The Wicked Sister
This was an intense book. I was not expecting to read it so fast, but I was absolutely riveted. It also gave me some weird dreams, but I suppose that’s what IĀ get for staying up until 12:30am reading it.
The world building was amazing, I had no trouble envisioning the remoteness of the Upper Peninsula, even though I’ve only been there a handful of times. I think even if I had never been there, I would still had no issues. The depth of information provided about the characters without feeling overwhelmed was also very well done. I felt like I was there, honestly. In my head I was thinking nonononononononono, don’t do that! at several points, but here we are.
I guessed some of the twists, but I wasn’t really expecting one of the final reveals right towards the end. I appreciated the hell out of the acknowledgement of how effed up our justice system is as a part of this story. The only thing that felt hand wavy was **SPOILER** Trevor’s safety/escape from the den. **SPOILER**
I don’t know if I’ll read Karen’s other book, but I am much more likely after reading this one. Top notch.
