As Charlotte navigates another season with her friends, acquaintances, and co-conspirators, she can’t help falling in love with an old flame. An adorable second chance romance set during the reign of Queen Charlotte, this book explores passion, friendship, the financial plights of women and the emotional plights of men in a patriarchal society.

Charlotte sees her way through multiple suitors, including one she feels is perfect, if only she could force the chemistry. Instead they continue their friendship and bedevil the true love interest of the book.

At times some of the conflicts seem forced, but honestly, the excitement of the rest of the book helps salvage that. Perfect beach read to lose yourself in the regency era.

Even as an enjoyable romp through a summer in Regency England, this book brought to the forefront for me so many thoughts on how women are still, STILL fighting for equal rights. And at the same time, the book shows the hope of women who came before us, which in turn gives me hope, rightly or wrongly.

I would like to thank the publisher, Gallery Books, for providing an ebook ARC for my perusal. This was a quick read, and I read it in only three sittings. Surprise! It’s 1am and I am 20% through. Surprise! It’s 1am again and I’m 50% through! Surprise! The end!

And of course, so much of this could have been fixed if they had just talked to each other, but grief is fucking weird. Totally understandable how that all shook out.

This window into the regency is out on July 7, and is available for pre-order wherever you buy your books! Please shop small, and support indie bookstores. If you purchase through my links at Bookshop.org or Libro.FM, you can not only select which independent bookstore you want to support, but I will earn a small commission.

Farewell in thine reading adventure!
